Seaholm Power Plant
(Downtown Austin) 214 West Avenue Austin, Texas 78701
The decommissioned Seaholm Power Plant has been virtually out of reach for all Austinites since its construction in the 1950’s. For years, the Art Deco building has held a great deal of mystery to passersby due to its looming presence and restricted access. But things changed in October as Rare Magazine was given access to Seaholm to host the first large scale public events at the power plant. After a very successful weekend doing after-parties for ACL Fest, we are opening up the doors to the inside of the plant and hosting 2010 Uncorked.
Guests and attending artists will encounter an unrivaled experience, as the industrial mammoth is turned into a full scale event space with lounges, VIP booths, huge dance floors and multiple bars. Never before has an event with this caliber of production taken place within Seaholm. Ilios Lighting will be helping Seaholm’s beauty shine through the night, keeping the party aglow and the impeccable sound engineering company, Nomad Sound, will anchor a top notch production staff for the event. While we do recommend a taxi cab bring you to the event and see you home, there will be ample onsite valet parking available.
